This is one of the shorter books of the Alex Cross novels, however the quality isn't left out of the quantity! The book is gripping from the start and leaves one on the edge and wanting more! Would definitely recommend!

Half way through this book and it's brill. Massive fan of James Patterson, One of THE best writers of all time.New to him ? I would recommend reading all the Alex Cross novels starting with Roses are red.All his books are brilliantly thought out and never fail to impress. Well worth the money every time

Double Cross is the thirteenth book in the Alex Cross series and this book was first published in 2007. A slightly shorter thriller that what we are used too and gives us another view of Cross. Cross is in private practice and has not been involved with police work for a while. His new girlfriend, Bree, is called out to a murder and it is Cross who drives her to the scene. Cross is unable to help himself and follows her into the crime scene where his old friend John Sampson is already working the case. There seems to be plenty of evidence left behind for the detectives to use in the building of their case, and the killer also happens to have a blog where he is taunting the police. When Kyle Craig escapes from a supermax prison Cross is slowly drawn back into the Metro PD as a detective while retaining his private patients. The killings continue in Washington, and they remain very much to the for and at the same time Cross believes that it is not a coincidence that Craig has escaped. The team around Cross seem to be at the end of their collective tether. They are not so much leading an investigation but following the evidence the killer is leaving for them to find. This thriller does not seem to have the normal panache of a Cross thriller and some of it seems rather predictable. A readable thriller.

This is a good fast paced crime thriller that has Alex Cross hunting not one but two killers, one of whom he has already caught and put behind bars. The chase interrupts his attempts to lead a more normal, less killer-filled life and he does uhm and ah about it a little but you know he's going to get right back into it. I did get a little lost towards the start where the first person narrative switched between Cross and Craig but once I realised that Patterson was using that technique again it was fine. Nothing ground breaking but sometimes you just need some crime candy.
