“Cracking Read”
(Hardback)
by Andy wormald
Do No Harm is a wonderfully addictive read, one which you need to keep on reading. The author poses a conundrum and then puts the reader at the heart of the book and lets the characters play on your emotions I found myself instantly gripped from the opening pages, from there on the drama, suspense and tension only increase, the author has crafted a novel guaranteed to not only entertain but one which asks thought provoking questions, the author cleverly puts the reader in the characters shoes with writing which is assured and measured, combined with characters who get under the skin. On the whole this is a superb plot driven as much as it is character driven read, a book which plays on the heartstrings and one which constantly surprises and takes you off on a different path, as the twists and turns come at you. Mainly told from three different character view points, characters who each have their own traits and secrets, each superbly written, you can instantly picture them in your head, the author has a great style for interweaving the different narratives but at each step moving the story forward, building the tension at every step, leaving you wondering, the author has really brought each character to life given real depth and feeling to each. To give any of the plot line away would be to spoil the readers enjoyment, you need to discover this book for yourself, however, the story moves quickly within a narrow time frame which again only adds to the whole dramatic feel, the pace never lets up, you have to keep turning the pages you have to know the answer. It would be fair in some sense to say that this is a book about morality and conscience, with a touch of what if, one which most of us could never truly answer, and as you race onto the exhilerating finale, you still find yourself with questions. I think in someways we all may have differing opinions on the characters and the actions taken, but this in part is due to the authors writing style It is a somewhat chilling read, relentless in never letting you draw breath, a compulsive page turner and highly entertaining. Jack Jordan has definately nailed the pulsating unputdownable thriller, a thoroughly entertaining read.
“'One simple task, Dr Jones,' the blue-eyed man says. 'That's all it takes.'”
(Hardback)
by Jonathan Race
Dr Jones is a heart surgeon with a high profile patient on the table in a couple of days time. When her son is kidnapped, she faces a simple choice; kill the patient, or her son dies. What would you do? . Whilst that question is at the heart of this book (let me have that one), don't mistake this for a lengthy tale of internal debate. The story is fast paced, exciting and continuously unraveling to the point where you just won't want to put it down. I often find thrillers to be rather hit or miss, but this was hit all the way through. Yes, there are moments where you may need to suspend belief a little, but less so than you might see on an episode of Casualty. Indeed, in perhaps the oddest compliment I can imagine, this book feels a bit like a plot for a TV drama series. It could easily be a BBC six part series, but I'm so glad it's a novel instead. It's one heck of a ride, and if you like thrillers, or indeed high-octane TV medical dramas, give this a stab*. . *Because, surgery? No regrets
“High octane medical thriller”
(Hardback)

Back in the day I used to devour medical thrillers. They were my go to read, but thinking about I haven’t read many books in this genre for a long time, but ‘Jack is back’ with a medical thriller that makes for a belter of a read! Jack Jordan sure knows how to grab the readers attention with a heart stopping opening, he keeps you in his clutches all the way to the thrilling conclusion. Do No Harm ‘did me harm’ I lost sleep, woke up early to finish it, and even went without lunch! it’s a book that’s impossible to put down once started. Chilling, horrifying but utterly gripping the book is told from three perspectives, Dr Anna Jones, DI Rachel Conaty and nurse Margot. I love a book that gives the reader an impossible moral dilemma, I find myself wondering would I? wouldn’t I? It’s an intriguing premise. A heart surgeon must choose to kill a patient on the operating table, or her kidnapped son dies. A mother’s instinct is to put their child first, but on the flip side you have a Dr who has taken the Hippocratic Oath, a vow that includes do no harm. The main characters are fascinating, their not perfect by any means, as each women has their own personal flaws, but it helps to make them far more relatable. An overwhelming sense of dread fills the pages as the date of the operation looms which adds to the tension tenfold. Do No Harm is terrifying, nail biting, and superbly plotted, it’s a book that is not beyond the realms of possibility which makes it far more terrifying. If I was having an operation anytime soon, I would definitely be having seconds thoughts! Jack Jordan has created a high-octane medical thriller that moves along like an express train, with twists and turns galore that will make your head spin. I have a feeling this book is going to be a HUGE hit.

“A compulsive book”
(Hardback)
by Sharon Adair
Wow! Congratulations, Jack Jordan, this is a riveting compulsive listen. At times it was a squeamish listen, but, nothing that isn't necessary within the tale of a competent heart surgeon put in an impossible position; alongside a nurse who is experiencing her own challenges and a female detective working on a murder investigation who holds her own, dark, secret. All three females are written so perfectly and the switch between each storyline is gripping. I practically listened in one sitting / walking, so gripped was I by all three situations and the switch between timelines and characters was executed perfectly. It's brilliantly narrated and has piqued my interest in audio books as a medium. I felt the storyline and writing style had a Martina Cole / Lynda La Plante / James Patterson feel and I literally struggled to stop listening. Anna the heart surgeon could be a frustrating character at times - I even shouted at her out loud! But, it in no way took away from my enjoyment and actually added to the authenticity of the listen. It's perfectly constructed with a fabulous, well wrapped up ending. This is a wonderful story, so well told and it would make a fabulous film.
