Reviews: Do No Harm (15)
“Totally blew me away ”
(Paperback)
by nicolallucy
The book was gripping right from the start and i finished it in only a couple of days. Marsh's detail of surgery was graphic at times and i struggled with that to to start with. Thus said, you soon get past the medical details and the book is hugely fulfilling. It explores the moral sides to the medical profession, alongside, the huge responsibility that surgeons hold on their shoulders while documenting his career as a neurosurgeon. It truly was a fantastic read and opened my mind to the genre of non-fiction more. Easily the best book i've read in a long time. Would definitely recommend.
“Fascinating insight into the life of a brain surgeon”
(Paperback)
by L Brown
I really enjoyed this book. You may have to be interested in medical matters, or at least addicted to Casualty, but I found the descriptions of what it feels like to be cutting into a living person's brain completely involving. I learnt a lot about the different parts of the brain, their functions, and some of the diseases attached to them. I also realised how terrifying it must be for a surgeon to undertake this work however well paid. Brilliant!
“excellent book”
(Paperback)

This book gives a fascinating insight into the realities of life in the frontline of medicine. Henry Marsh pulls no punches and speaks frankly, from a lifetime of experience, of the life and death decisions that surgeons have to make on a day-to-day basis. Respect!
“Wonderful Book”
(Paperback)
by Karen Ogg
Do No Harm is a wonderfully written book. It's written by a surgeon who is full of warm and compassion for those he treats, by a man who writes with such courageous honesty. You don't need to have a medical degree to read this book, and the images of the anatomy are beautifully constructed. This book ought to be recommended by medical schools to anyone who is accepted by them. Some books are destined to be kept pristine, but Henry Marsh's book deserves a well thumbed place on many bed side tables up and down the UK.
“Enlightening”

Eye-opening and enlightening book about the life of a neurosurgeon. Very interesting (yet touching) read, and well-written.
