Reviews: Divergent (71)
“One of the best YA series ever”
(Paperback)
by Emma McDonald
Veronica Roth got me into YA Dystopian novels, and I haven't stopped reading since it first came out. Triss is a brilliant main character and I love the world it's set in. I'll read anything that Roth writes, but I'll always come back to the Divergent series.
“Amazing”
(Paperback)
by Shannon Hughes
One of the most gripping books I’ve personally ever read. With the most jaw dropping moments around every corner and heart throbbing romance it’s a must read for every young adult/teen reader.
“Heart Stopping!”
(Paperback)
by Claire Pearson at Carlisle
A thrilling heart stopping read. I couldn't put this book down it's a really brillianlty written story, with great ideas and well rounded characters. A must for fans of the hunger games, though it is slightly more violent than the hunger games so I'd say for readers above the age of 13.
“Read it and love it!”
(Paperback)
by Isabel at Islington
Its not very often that I re-read books, but I loved Divergent so much the first time around, I had to read it it again in preparation for the sequel, Insurgent (released May 1st 2012). At 16 years old, Tris is about to make the choice of a lifetime: to stay in the ‘faction’ she grew up in, or transfer her allegiance to another. Will she choose a life based on being kind to others, one based on being selfless, or one based on always telling the truth, no matter what? What about a life of study, or a life of bravery? It's a decision that will have far greater consequences than she can even imagine. As good as The Hunger Games, Divergent kept me teetering on the edge of my seat. It’s got a bit of everything: drama, action, moral choices, friendship, romance, and learning to question those things that, in childhood, are taken for granted. The love interest is dreamy and Tris is a believable and well-developed heroine. Divergent got my heart pounding just as hard the second time around. Read it and love it!
“Truly my favourite series of all time!!”
(Paperback)
by Ellen
I read this series a good few years ago now, but honestly, I've never been more moved and hooked by a book or a character!! Tris really resonated with me, and honestly, I won't lie... If you've watched the films too you will see her collarbone tattoo. I got my own version of this tattooed on me!! Mine is deeply personal and resembles the bond I have with my two older cousins but it also has a little bit of a reminder of this series for me too. I've also read the "carve the mark" series by Veronica Roth which was equally as brilliant!
