Reviews: Disappearing Act (2)
“SUCH a phenomenal read! 10/10”
(Hardback)
With a positively captivating inner voice and writing style, Sheehan creates wildly distinctive characters that somehow remain relatable and who fully suck you in and immerse you in the mesmerizing landscapes of their worlds and character driven stories. I absolutely love when an author has the power to successfully draw me out of our world and completely engulf me in the world, and better yet, the psyche of the characters…Sheehan is particularly adept at this in his short stories. He has created a cast of such intricate and complex characters and has such a gift for nuance and knack for creating genuinely intriguing storylines with brilliantly unexpected twists that, even with such a brief glimpse into their lives the reader comes away feeling like they truly understand the inner machinations of the characters and their lives.
Not that this should be unexpected, but the intro was every bit as fun and interesting a read as the stories themselves...I'd love to see a book of even just Rob's ramblings, as I genuinely think that would be an equally great read. I also truly hope that he seriously considers bringing at least some of these short stories to life in future short films or the like, as so many would translate incredibly well on screen and would likely be a blast creating.
Regardless, this was hands-down one of my best reads in recent years and one which I both highly recommend and hope to see more of in the future.
“brilliant, a must have for every bookshelf”
