“romantasy done right”
(Hardback)
by Silvia
dire bound is the first book in a romantasy series set in a world where humans forge unbreakable bonds with direwolves and fight for survival. we follow Meryn Cooper, a pit fighter in the slums trying to keep her family afloat. one day her little sister, Saela, is kidnapped by Nabbers (immortal monsters), and Meryn enlists in the army to get over the border to save her sister. only problem is, she has to participate in the deadly Bonding Trials where one simple mistake can cost her life. Meryn must survive four months of training at the castle as she bonds to Anassa, a direwolf who refuses to even talk to her. she also needs to survive the other trainees who are trying to kill her for her common blood and her cold instructor, Stark Therion, who is eager to punish any weakness. as the trials go on, Meryn continues to fight for survival and search for her sister, and ends up uncovering dark secrets in the castle. this book was literally everything i wanted and more!! the writing and world building was absolutely perfect and it gave us enough to be intrigued but also left us wanting more!!! the trial scenes were probably some of my favourites as i loved the connections shown between the humans and direwolves. they did get a bit gruesome at times and i did cry on the train at a certain point BUT they were done really really well!! the plot twists had me on the floor and i was screaming into the abyss about them… and THAT ENDING?? give me book 2 now cause i can’t deal

“A must read for fantasy fans”

This book took me by the scruff of the neck and refused to let go until I had finished it. The female lead is forced into participating in a competition to bond with a direwolf even though she is only trying to get to the border to save her sister. She is feisty, temperamental and completely justified in how she feels. She has vulnerabilities and isn't exactly likeable but you can't help but root for her. The romance was well done and the spice was executed very well. The only downside I found with this book is that I will have to wait ages until book 2 is released! Hunger games meets Fourth Wing but with bad-ass wolves!

“a romantasy triumph”
(Hardback)
by Roberta at Altrincham
Fourth Wing fans this one is for you! This addictive fantasy romance follows Meryn, as she joins the army to try and save her sister who is kidnapped. Unfortunately for Meryn, this year is the Bonding Trials, which every cadet must join in with, for the chance to bond with a Direwolf. Meryn has no intention of bonding, but when chosen by Anassa, there is no other option. It is accept the bond or die…This book was just everything! The pacing was incredible, the characters were perfect and the twists were 10/10. Safe to say, I strongly recommend this one to all the romantasy girlies!
“What a cliffhanger”

Loved everything about this, however the nickname Kitten makes my eye twitch. The world, the characters and the wolves were all so intriguing and the plot kept me guessing right up to the end. The ending itself had me on the edge of my seat so much so that how dare the author leave it like that and make me wait for the second book! For fans of badass FMCs and those of us that want a wolf or dragon (or both) to bond to.
