Reviews: Digging Dr Jones (31)
“The perfect book for those looking for 80s/90s action adventure nostalgia”
(Paperback)
by Kira Pico
I absolutely loved this book! If you’re coming into it, looking for deep diving history and archaeology, you’re not gonna get it. This book is a mash up between Raiders of the Lost Ark and the Lost City. It’s about action, adventure, and archaeology, but it’s also not super serious. The romance is the central theme overarching the book There is action and there is adventure, but there is also a lot of comedy and it doesn’t take itself too seriously. The strangers to reluctant accomplices to lovers is center in the story. It is so sweet and feels natural for the characters, not a flat “ok there’s a hot person in my vicinity, I should get with them” storyline. (You all know what I mean with books like that!) The third wheel, fish out of water brother is very reminiscent of Jonathan from The Mummy. There is background for both characters, but it’s not delved into so deeply that you’re left heartbroken or crying. it doesn’t force you to step out of the fun vibe of the book. This is definitely a feel good book and it doesn’t really lean into any dark themes. When you finish this book, you are gonna be left smiling. It’s all the fun vibes of Indiana Jones, National Treasure, and The Mummy; without any overarching negative, scary or evil vibes. If you loved those movies growing up, but you want more romance, this is the perfect book for you. Dr. Jones! Dr. Jones! There's a book out there for everyone! 80s kids will think of Romancing the Stone or Raiders of the Lost Ark when they meet Andrew and Adriana Jones. Follow these two on a case of mistaken identity that turns into the adventure of a lifetime! Professor and treasure hunter Andrew is on the hunt, and Adriana must go along for the ride. The characters are well-developed with great chemistry, amazing banter, trips into the Colombian jungle, and a great mystery to be solved with treasure at the end! You need to read to find out. Adriana's inner dialogue is hysterical, and her older brother is a favorite supporting character. If you loved Lyla Sage's Done and Dusted, you will LOVE Digging Dr. Jones! Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter, for the opportunity to review this advanced reader copy. #NetGalley #DiggingDrJones #HarperCollinsUK #OneMoreChapter #realtorreads #booktok #bookstagram #books #booklover #book #bookrecommendations #bookish #bookstagrammer #bookworm #reading #bookreview #bookaddict #booknerd #booksbooksbooks #readersofinstagram #bookcommunity #romancebooks #bookblogger #romance #read #bookshelf #bibliophile #reader #fantasy #bookrecs #kindleunlimited #booksofinstagram #bookclub #bookphotography #booklovers
“A fun and spicy romcom adventure”
(Paperback)
by Melissa Brown
For fans of Indiana Jones, Tomb Raider and Romancing the Stone this book is a spicy romantic adventure. I received an ARC copy of this book and I could tell just by the title it was going to be a fun one. when a bracelet accidentally is delivered to Adriana Jones' hotel room she finds herself whisked away by Archeology professor and treasure hunter Dr. Andrew Jones. Soon Adriana, her brother William and Andrew find themselves racing against another team of treasure hunters to find hidden valuables in the jungles of Colombia. With spice and sass, Adriana begins to feel herself drawing closer to Andrew but her past has taught her not to trust her heart. However Andrew is not giving up the hunt for the treasure nor for removing all of Adriana"s defenses. I found this the perfect mix of adventure, romance and dramedy.
“Feet Kickingly Good”
(Paperback)
by Danielle Hamilton-Edmunds
I was lucky enough to be able to read an advanced copy of Digging Dr Jones, by the publisher, and I adored it. If you enjoy romance books that are very lighthearted, with banter and sexual tension between your main characters off the charts, you will love this one. It was the perfect blend of Rom-com and adventure, and was such a great read. Highly recommend picking this up, if you love a slow burn romance, and a well paced, engaging read.
