In this, the fourth book in the series, Kate and Tristan are now more firmly entrenched in their private investigator business. With a few very successful investigations behind them, even the police now have respect for their efforts. When Kate, who swims in the ocean every day, whatever the weather, falls victim to a deadly rip tide, she barely escapes the ocean alive. She is put in hospital, and if ever there was a time when she was tempted to start drinking again, this was it!  While in hospital, Kate meets a woman named Jean, whose grandson went missing eleven years previously. Jean hires Kate and Tristan to find out what happened to three year old Charlie. Their investigations take them to Dartmoor, where Charlie was last seen. They meet some shady characters, learn that Jean has a murky past, and that a social worker connected to Charlie and is family was brutally murdered just two weeks after Charlie went missing. Rich characterization and a page-turning plot makes for a fast-paced, and interesting story. The Kate Marshall series is one I really enjoy, and I have already purchased the next book "The Lost Victim" on my Kindle to read when time permits. 4.5 stars rounded up

This is a seriously addictive read so much so that I read it in a day. As always what starts out as different storylines come together seamlessly to create one perfectly woven story, I love the characters of Kate and Tristan, they are such likeable characters with a really good relationship and I can’t wait for the next instalment.

I am a great fan of the author's books and book 4 in the PI Kate Marshall series is another fine read. The relationship between Kate and her assistant, Tristan, is very touching and the developing characterisation is lovely. This book finds them investigating a cold case disappearance of a 3 year old boy, in a many layered tale filled with interesting characters and bleak descriptive passages of Dartmoor. Robert Bryndza has created another 5* read which fans will love.. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

4.5 which I am rounding up to 5 for the the sheer fact that I could not put down Devil's Way. Robert Bryndza is a born story teller and he always succeeds at grabbing your attention from the first to the final page with twists and turns and of course secrets that are bound to come out. Kate along with Tristan are trying to solve an old case of a missing boy Charlie. Kate met his grandmother while in hospital (oh Kate you worry me) and something about Jean's story intrigues Kate. Although this is the 4th book in the series you could read it as a stand alone but I guarantee you that you will want to go back and start with book one. Highly recommend the Kate Marshall and Ericka Foster series by Robert Bryndza and I for one cant wait for Book 5 and the next case of Kate

I’ve not read anything by this author before, but I’ll be looking out for his name now. I liked the pairing of Kate, ex- police officer turned Private Eye with Tristan, young ex-researcher now partnering Kate. They bounce off each other nicely, with Kates mature view of life balancing nicely with Tristan’s more innocent view. The story is an emotive one, as anything involving the loss of a child always is. This felt very realistic, from the depth of the distress of the child’s family, to the actions of both the PIs and the Police. Often there is no evidence to be found, and in this case especially although mistakes are made, this could so easily be a true story. Excellent read. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
