I always look forward to a new book by Roberta Kray and this one certainly did not disappoint one bit, there is nothing better than when an author can pull you in from the very first page and keep you hooked throughout. Judith Jonson has been mourning her husband for over five years, he was killed in the war and never returned back but she could never accept that Dan had died, something just kept telling her he was alive. One day reading the paper she spot an article with a photograph of a man the vaguely looks like her husband...he's pictured with a notorious criminal by his side...Judith needs to find this man ....Will she find him? What world is she about to be pulled into? I cannot wait for the next novel by Roberta.

An East End of London crime story. Set in the 1940’s in the aftermath of World War 2, devastation everywhere. Judith meets and marries a handsome charmer during the war and is heartbroken when she hears he’s missing, presumed dead. Several years later she by chance spots a photo of his doppelgänger which sets her on the adventure of her life. Gritty with plenty of violence which is to be expected if you get in the way of villains! A mix of kindhearted and not so kindhearted characters. A gripping tale which makes the reader carry on turning the pages to see if Judith finally finds the happiness she deserves. Also an interesting look into bygone London of ruined streets and buildings.
