Reviews: Dark Summit (1)
“Fantastic, emotional and riveting book to rival Into Thin Air”
(Paperback)
This is a well-researched and compelling account of the Everest 2006 season, one of the deadliest in its history. It focuses largely on the stories of two different climbers- David Sharp, a 34 year old British mountaineer climbing alone without supplemental oxygen, and Lincoln Hall, a New Zealand climber who was rescued after being left for dead. The beginning of the book is packed full of Everest lore and legends on climbers such as George Mallory, Tenzing Norgay and Russell Brice, whilst the rest of the book focuses on the two climbers and their fight to stay alive. A riveting read which I read from start to finish in one sitting.
