I actually really enjoyed this sci fi tale with a bit of existential horror! Space for me is creepy enough with all that space and how if you can't escape the ship, there is nowhere for you to go. I had a blast listening to this at night to drive up the shivers of the crew of XK72 and their trip into the darkness while testing a new slip drive that goes awry. Just imagining the ship in the infinite darkness and then the light...I could really see this while listening to the audiobook and it had me hooked to see if the crew could get out in time before "he is coming" arrived. In space, no one can hear you scream and when you dare to look into the void, that way lies madness. I think this made for an excellent audiobook because the narrator, Jennifer Pickens, did a great job in bringing the despair and last minute hopes and plans of the characters to life. It is not pure sci fi or horror, but a nice blend of the two and I am glad I got the chance to be scared and hooked by this audiobook!
