“A Dystopian Romance That Absolutely Consumes You”
(Hardback)
by Robyn Maynard
Conform by Ariel Sullivan is the kind of debut that reminds you why you fell in love with dystopian romance in the first place. Dark, emotional, and fiercely addictive, this first instalment in the Conform series delivers tension, rebellion, and heart-stopping chemistry in equal measure.Set in a chillingly stratified society ruled by the elite and the “Illum,” the story follows 27-year-old Emeline — a marked outcast whose very existence is a quiet act of defiance. When she’s selected for a mandatory mating contract with Collin, a powerful and enigmatic high-ranking Illum member, her world tilts on its axis. What begins as forced proximity evolves into something far more complex and emotionally charged, especially as whispers of rebellion grow louder beneath the polished surface of control.Emeline is an exceptional heroine — resilient without being invincible, vulnerable without ever feeling weak. Her internal struggle between survival and resistance feels raw and authentic. And Collin? He’s layered in the best way: commanding yet conflicted, privileged yet not untouched by the cracks in the system he serves. The slow-burn tension between them is electric, simmering with unspoken truths and impossible choices. The world-building is immersive without overwhelming, painting a stark portrait of power, control, and societal conformity. The political undertones feel timely and unsettling, and the rebellion plotline adds urgency and stakes that keep the pages turning late into the night. Just when you think you know where it’s heading, the story pivots — and that love triangle? It raises the emotional cost of every decision. What truly elevates Conform is its emotional depth. It’s not just about romance or revolution — it’s about identity, autonomy, and the courage it takes to choose your own path in a world designed to choose for you.If you love dystopian romance with high stakes, morally grey characters, forced proximity, and rebellion-fueled tension, Conform deserves an immediate spot on your TBR. I’m already counting down to book two.

Once I started this book i couldn’t put it down! I love Hal. I also can’t help the magnetic attraction to Collin- The Enforcer. The plot was amazing and didn’t lose pace! If you love a dystopian fantasy- the likes of Divergent and Hunger games? Then this is for you! I NEED THE NEXT BOOK ASAP!
“Immersive dystopian fantasy”

I picked this up and did not put it down until the last page. The Illum is the governing force in this world and sets all the rules; people are kept in societies based on their genetic standing, and the concept of love is almost forgotten - with contracts for mating and procreation used to enhance the gene pool. In this world, our FMC finds herself in a Mating Contract with male of high standing, while her rebellious heart falling for a male who has been all but cast out. I finished this book wondering if anything was as it seems... Are all the people who they say they are? Who's leading rebellions? Who's the villain, really? How will this pan out... Also, I really appreciated the themes and ideas posed in this book; of body autonomy and consent, subservience and obligation. Very topical and conversationally on point.

“Enthralling dystopia”

I found myself utterly enthralled by Conform, staying up until the early hours to continue reading. I adored Emeline from the start, her naivety and her inability to toe the line unquestioningly just drew me in from the very first chapter. I desperately wanted to know more about every single character, though I’m afraid my curiosity certainly wasn’t sated in this book, so I’m dying to read the next already. The world Ariel has crafted is equal parts horrifying and fascinating, leaving me desperately full of questions about how everything came to be and why things are the way they are. Whilst I know some readers loathe ending a novel with so many questions, personally, I love it. That feeling of needing more, in a good way, at the end is truly what I look for and I found it here in spades. What happens next? Is Collin who I think he is? Is Hal? Will Lol see consequences? Will someone ever smack the face off of Emeline’s father? What’s Philip’s deal? I need book two immediately if not sooner! If you love a dystopian novel, with rich but easy to follow world building and a Handmaid’s Tale vibe, I think you’ll enjoy this one. I most certainly did.
“Dystopian Uprising”

This dystopian uprising novel is giving Handmaid's Tale mixed with a little bit of Red Rising. Once I started this book I did not want to put it down. I absolutely loved the character development and by the end I still wasn't sure who I could trust and who is the enemy. And if I'm being honest, I still don't know who to trust. I didn't realize this book was going to be part of a series so when I started getting close to the end I thought there was no way it was going to be wrapped up in under 50 pages and boy was I right. My only complaint about this book is that the next one is not out and I'm going to need more of this story asap! If you love books with dystopian themes, class war and rebellion and a small side of spice, you must read this one! Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine | Ballantine Books for access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
