I was very pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to turn my garden waste into compost. Admittedly, I have the space and a sort of heap already but this guide has given me renewed enthusiasm for turning this waste into compost. The guide is clear and easy to follow, informative and the lino cut illustrations are lovely.

This is a wonderfully informative yet easy to digest handbook on home composting, complete with how-to guides, tips and myth busting. The book itself would look natural and beautiful on any shelf or coffee table, and is illustrated with striking linocut prints and pastel-coloured charts and illustrations which are very instructive and perfectly fit the subject matter. Overall, highly recommended for anyone interested in learning more about compost!

I am having my first year in the garden and was recommended this book as the best book to read on compost by Poppy Okotcha in her novel Wilder Way and thought that I best give it a try. I was so pleasantly surprised to discover that this book is great. It offers clear instructions and advice on everything including how to choose the best way to compost for you and your garden depending on needs and size. I have never composted before but the way that Dowding breaks everything down (no pun intended) really makes me feel like I can tackle making it, everything I need to know is in here! There are illustrated charts and diagrams to accompany the information provided. Dowding takes us through what compost is, how it works and everything in between! The lovely linocut illustrations add a nice touch to the book on the whole. This is a fantastic resource and if you garden and are curious about compost, for sure pick this up!
