“THE CLARITY OF CLOUDS. ....”
(Paperback)
An extraordinary story. Beautiful and thought provoking. Written as a diary by Angie, it explores deep thoughts and feelings.
It's a wonderful tale of friendship, growing stronger and more binding through the rough and smooth times. Essentially it's full of hope and resilience.
It's a delight to read. It's as though we are intruding on Angie's fears and hopes.
Many of diary entry offer us a description of how the clouds appear that day . A reflection of Angie's mood.
Her dear friend Harry is unwell and Angie has to learn and understand how to cope with this. Many new emotions and feelings to experience. She needs to be strong and brave for Harry.
Running along side this story is the story of Angie's Grandma. Her life in a Singapore Prison Camp during the Second World War.
Another moving and powerful story.
To tell you anymore would spoil this incredible book.
Read it, understand it and feel the emotions that will overwhelm you.
“A touching and important story of processing grief at a young age”
(Paperback)
A touching and important story of what it is like to have a friend go through treatment for and then die from illness at a young age (9-12ish). Marcia Williams captures all the nuances of friendship under pressure, when the people involved are not in any kind of control of what is affecting their relationship. It brings grief, chronic illness, family, friendship, and how people have dealt with the same difficulties in many different situations and times throughout history.
It also bring to light a potted explanation of different cloud types, and the history of the internment camps in Singapore, including the quilts that the prisoners made to pass the time and keep their hope alive.
Recommend to 9-12 year-olds, and their parents/carers to read as well/with them.
