Like the author says “This is a story about making a dream at all costs, it’s about not taking “no” for an answer”. This book is full of priceless values!!! Highly recommend it, specially to those people who dream big!!
“A gripping autobiography”
(Paperback)
by Mark
As a teenager in the 80s, I remember the thrill of watching “Scarface” on VHS (much younger than I should have done) and catching “Platoon” at the cinema as an 18 year old and this autobiography, amongst many other things, is the story behind that. Charting Stone’s life, from a rarefield New York childhood with an American father and French mother through to volunteering to go to Vietnam and then his tribulations in the film business up to winning an Oscar for “Platoon”, this is a gripping read. He’s as frank as you’d expect on all aspects of his life, from his feelings to his relationships with his parents and you really feel like you’re seeing the real Oliver Stone (his war recollections are incredibly powerful). Even better, he goes into great detail on where the script ideas come from and how difficult it is to translate them both to the page and screen. As a writer myself, some of his observations closely chimed with my own and gave me a fresh level of respect for the man who knows he’s difficult (and often his own worse enemy) even as he tries not to be. An excellent book, very well told, I’m already looking forward to going back and re-watching some Stone films. Very highly recommended.
“Not read yet, but......”

Hi this book has just arrived this morning, I bought the signed copy. BEAWARE THIS BOOK IS NOT ACTUALLY SIGNED BY OLIVER STONE, IT IS A PIECE OF PAPER WHICH HE HAS SIGNED AND IT HAS BEEN GLUED INTO THE BOOK. I felt a little cheated to say the least. It does however have a hand written number that represents which copy out of a 1000 mine is i.e. 411/1000. I have never had this happen before, its a little strange, I am hoping the book makes for an interesting read..
