“Gripping”
(Hardback)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A gripping story, I read it on holiday and didn’t want to put it down to do anything else. I had no idea how the situation would resolve itself but the ending was very clever and very satisfying.

“Unusual thriller”
(Hardback)
A really thrilling read, as all of Gillian McAllister's novels I have read have been. I was a bit unsure of the American setting at first (McAllister's novels are usually firmly based in the UK). Simone, the main protagonist, is on her way to visit her daughter in the Texan desert, but this soon becomes almost a character itself in the story. The terrifying opening sees her daughter, Lucy, being abducted from their desert cabin, with the resulting demand from the kidnapper that she break the law in order to get her back. In an almost impossible decision to do whatever it takes to free Lucy, we see Simone struggle to tread the fine line between maternal instinct and justice, with the inevitable twists and turns that threaten to derail the whole enterprise. This is a fascinating and tense journey into the mother-daughter relationship and keeps the reader on tenterhooks for most of the novel. A gripping read.

“Fantastic”
(Hardback)
Huge fan of Gillian McAllister and reading the blurb I knew this was going to be another great thriller.
Simone is in Texas to visit her daughter Lucy, but their first night it all goes wrong when Lucy is apparently kidnapped and held hostage. Simone does whatever any mother would do, ignores all the advice and common sense and tries to fix it herself!
The book is thrilling, gripping, has you on the edge of hour seat at various points, characters you feel for. I would have read this in one sitting had I had the chance, but I blazed through as once you get into it, you just need to know what is coming.
A brilliant read as always and I look forward to the next one from Gillian McAllister.
“Absolutely Amazing”
(Hardback)
Woah! This was just fantastic. I've thought before that Gillian McAllister is at the top of her game but then she outdoes herself! Absolutely amazing.
“A great thriller from a great thriller writer!”
(Hardback)
A great book by one of my favourite authors. Caller Unknown explores the strength of the bond between mother and daughter especially on the cusp of losing them to their own life when they fly the nest for good. I did find the character of Simone a bit over the top but who knows how we'll react when facing that empty nest! I loved the twists and turns in the story especially the stonking great one at the end. Well done Gillian!
