“More than just a Railway Book”
(Paperback)
This is one of the best books ever produced by the Oakwood Press. It is a well chronicled account of a remarkable part of the vast network of departments which made up the private railway companies and later nationalised British Railways. The author paints in words and photographs a history of technical endeavour, skill, dedication, loyalty, experience, comradeship and often courage. The story abounds with dedicated railwaymen many with skills developed over a lifetime facing many problems and hardships. One does not only read of Caersws and the neighbouring Moat Lane Junction but the author takes the reader to such places as Builth Wells , together with how the problems of Barmouth Bridge were. tackled. A landmark railway history book, well researched and written.
