Clive Barkers are must reads, any commentary really isn't satisfactory

Brilliantly told and darkly beautiful, 'Cabal' feels current and ancient in equal measure. The character's relationships are fleshed out and the story takes turns you would never expect. If you've never read Barker's stuff before, this would be a great place to start.
