This is the seventh book in the DCI Evan Warlow series & although it would read well as a standalone, I would recommend reading the whole lot in order. You will then understand the nuances of how the team work as well as the gradual padding out of their backstories. Plus, you’ll get more Cadi time! A decomposing body is discovered in a mine shaft & the deceased’s former partner is missing. As the case progresses, one of the interviewees triggers unwelcome memories for one of the team. I love these books; fabulous plots with plenty of in depth story telling but with with some much needed humour added in. A great read & no sooner had I finished this, then number eight landed on my kindle. I’m well happy!
