i loved the way the setting of this book was described, the sticky, heavy humidity of suburban florida matches up with the claustrophobia of adolescent girlhood. it's written mainly from the perspective of the group, which was a little hard to get used to but was so charming, i've never read anything like it. the plot was fuzzy and enthralling, vigorously confusing which some may see as a negative, but it let my imagination run wild. i hope i never recover from the spell brutes cast on me
