“Loved it”
(Paperback)
by Hiral Patel
I loved this book - I like the way that the main character is described and brought to life. I love the way that the period is described. I loved the story, it's a really nice story about a girl who moves to a big new city and in the process finds and redefines herself, away from her friends and family.
“Lovely book!”

I loved this book. The style is so simple and yet it's written in a way that you can read between each line. It tells the story of the innocence of youth and all it's faults so beautifully. I didn't want it to end.

The description of the characters is wonderful. It really was a fab book, I loved reading every word of it. A girl's survival in a new country and how she copes as a lodger, work and love... After a death in the family, she heads back to Ireland and gets tangled up with old friends Beautifully written. Enchanting.
“Abosrbing”

I have read a few other books by this author & am amazed at the variety of styles , characters etc he creates. In this book, the story of an emigre to America, he definitely recreates the ambience & morals of the era. I didn't want to put the book down, & felt that I really wanted a sequel to find out what happened to the principal character next.
