Reviews: Bronson (3)
“Good Read”
(Paperback)
I found the book interesting of how one man has been moved all around Britain from prison to prison and to Broadmoor, and back to prison with majority of his time locked away on his own, and how he managed his daily life to survive.
The people he made friends with, and how the year's of being put in the hole has affected his eye sight and hearing. And how he has raised money for charity and get into the book of records.
“Brilliant Read”
(Paperback)
This book makes you laugh and cry. Strongly recommend!
“A victim of a brutal system”
(Paperback)
Quite simply, Michael "Charles Bronson" Peterson has been incarcerated for too long. He has clearly had his human rights breached on numerous occasions, and has been the victim of government-wide humiliation and dehumanisation.
This book, one of many he has written, spells it all out in horrible detail. His daily life, how he became who he is, his regrets, his terrible conditions, his regular prison moves, the fact he has to watch child killers and rapists have visits with friends and family while he can't even hug his own mother...
Somehow, through all of this, he has remained funny, insightful, and fully aware of what HM Prison does to him; he knows he has been forced into becoming instituionalised, and fights that knowledge every day of his life.
He has served over 34 years in prison, most of those in solitary confinment, and yet he has never killed anyone and most of his prison time has been due to his response to the bullying nature of prison officers. The home office have restricted his visits, and even seasoned prison officers who have befriended him have been denied access for NO REASON. It is a travesty. It truly, truly is.
Read his books. See that he is a good man, an award-winning artist who has helped raise thousands of pounds for charity, and that he deserves a chance to prove himself.
His case clearly proves that prison is NOT about rehabiltation, and is nothing more than an outdated Victorian institution.
