Reviews: Broken (1)
“The story lingered in my mind well after I finished reading it.”
(Paperback)
The author did a incredible effort at portraying the intricate relationships between love, faith and identity. The book is effortless to read despite the use of a Northern Nigeria language, it's characters feels familiar and relatable, and the reader can empathise with their struggles.
I could sense a disaster looming as I continued reading, likely due to the shared religious context with my own, but I was still not ready for the twist. I appreciate the author chose to depict muslim characters with imperfections, in contrast to the inaccurate portrayals seen in Hollywood. Definitely a 5 star review book.
