Reviews: Britain's War (2)
“Good read.”
(Paperback)
Excellent book.
“Outstanding & Detailed Account of the period 1942 to 1947”
(Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, an absorbing account of not just what was going on on the battlefields but how we decided where to direct our limited resources, how we funded our war & how we prepared for life after war. I learned a lot about what was going on behind the scenes with the coalition government & who as always were against what we were preparing to do after the World War. How the Government of the time managed everything is unbelievable. They had to deal with independence demands in countries like India, Malaya (Malaysia) & Burma. There was also the issues around the big powers namely the USA & the USSR. We tried to keep on the right side of both but that very quickly changed. An excellent read, the author must have spent so time doing research for this magnificent book. Well done to him.
