Excellent book, the first in a trilogy though they can be read independently of each other. Twists and turns as you’d expect from the subject matter. Written with great wit.

Deighton sets the Game, Set and Match Trilogy off to a flaming start. Bernie Samson is a character who rightly sits alongside the great Smiley of le Carré. I’ll be straight onto Mexico Set.

The first in the excellent spy series. The writing is excellent and the characters believable. The plot is good and the settings well drawn. Bernard Samson is a great character and this is a fantastic start to the series.
