Reviews: Being Heumann (1)
“A really fascinating story”
(Hardback)
by Ben Elliott Baker
Judy Heumann has done remarkable things in pursuing disability justice and equality and this brilliant book tells the story really well. If you watched 'Crip Camp' on Netflix, you will recognise Judy as a key activist in the fight to make disability equality into law, most famously by occupying government buildings with other disabled people for days on end. She had to fight for everything all the way through her life but rather than that making her bitter, she used her experience to keep fighting for disabled people with grace, humour and fun. I really enjoyed this book and reading how she learnt to be an activist as she went along.
