“Hilarious!”
(Paperback)
Brookmyre has once again written one of the funniest books I have ever read. Ross is somehow zapped into a video game world with no idea how to get out. Christopher's latest book is a must for anyone who gets nostalgic about classic games and a daft adventure that's full of laughs. Just one thing, don't read it in public. It'll have you on the floor!
“This is not the end of the world”
(Hardback)
Brookmyre lets his hair down and indulges in his own geeky fantasies for this very funny book aimed right at the gaming generation. If you don't play and have no interest in computer games at all (even a passing one), chances are you'll not like it. If you think Brookmyre should stick to crime novels only, and want him to write the same book over and over, chances are you'll not like it. But if you share many of the same cultural connections as Brookmyre and if you love the man's rollicking sense of humour, you're going to have a blast. Its not the deepest of novels, but it is told at breakneck speed with some nice conceits (Manic Miner world is fantastic) and above all, as always with Brookmyre, its so over the top you can't help but give in to the laughter.
