“Genius in hidden places”
(Paperback)
by Jennifer Leonard
Badasstronauts, a republishing of Occupy Space by Grady Hendrix. A short story about an out of work astronaut, Walter, after NASA decided to stop building spaceships themselves. His cousin, also an astronaut, is stuck on the ISS, a victim of a world completely unmotivated to rescue one of their own. A hero, sentenced to die in space, the cold lonely abyss, where he could only watch as he circled the place he called home. Walter decides enough is enough, and he’s going to rescue Bobby himself. He will build a rocket, he will launch, and he will bring him home to his family. How he’s going to get it done is another story entirely. This was a fun and short story, with mostly unlovable characters. I honestly enjoyed the new forward by Hendrix the most, but if you’re a fan of his work, I still recommend diving in for an hour or two and visiting Melville, South Carolina.
