We played Azul as a family of 3 (2 adults and 6 year old) and after reading the instructions and having a practice round, we understood the rules and have played many times since as it's very addictive as we are all very competitive. Azul is a strategy game, the aim of the game is to have the highest score by the time one of the players has completed atleast one horizontal line on their wall. The game is fantastic quality, the tiles are beautiful and it really does get 10/10 from us! A great addition to family game nights.

It's a really fun family game. Don't be put off by the long rules/instructions. Stick with it or have a look on YouTube as we did! The actual concept is easy, and the more we played, the more tactical we became.

It ain't your typical game which I absoloutely love! It is very addictive and strategic.

I was lucky to get an opportunity to test Azul with my family. This game is beautiful to look at and has been well made, the price clearly reflects this quality. The little tiles are so tactile and store away in a nice bag. Game play takes a few goes at the start (and initial failures) after reading the rules (several times) but once you get the hang of it, you're off and it can get quite addictive. The aim is to grab tiles from the middle, build up a grid that you can use to create your main scoring wall, but without ending up with negative tiles that you can't use which impact your score. I like games that make you think and this includes a fair bit of strategy, thinking ahead and trying to outwit and penalise your opponents by trying to increase your scoring potential whilst lumping them with negative consequences. We played with four of us and I think that led to more screams of displeasure or tiles being taken by one person that were wanted by another. Exactly what you want when playing with friends and family. This game is unlike anything else I have played and makes a nice addition to our family games cupboard. If you struggle with logic and multiple rules you might find it a challenge but all challenges are there to be conquered and if you manage it, there's even a more difficult game play option on the reverse of the board (my next challenge). I think Azul therefore has long lasting game play opportunity, you won't get bored. Give it a go, it will surprise you.
