Reviews: Azul (187)
“Amazing Azul game for all ages.”

We were given this as a free testing product and the whole family had fun.
It is a beautifully produced game with arty tiles used to creatively invent patterns in order to gain points. Azul is a game of skill and strategy but fun too.
The only slight hiccup is that the rules are a bit complex and I would advise reading them carefully well before your planned game time. Otherwise greatly recommended!

This is quite addictive. We really enjoyed playing it. Very strategic, I still seem to end up with all the wrong tiles
“Engaging and interactive game for the whole family”

The aim of Azul is to collect the gorgeous, chunky abstract printed tiles from the ‘factories’ in each round, filling your game rows and translating these full rows to the scoring board. The first one to get 5 in a row is the winner, but the real strategy comes with AVOIDING getting 5 in a row for as long as possible, maximising your score and aiming to give your opponents the most negative points in each round.
Once we’d got our heads around the simple rules, our 8 year old was content just to keep filling up his row (inadvertently scoring the most points!) while my husband and I puzzled and calculated 3 steps ahead trying to land each other with the biggest leftover pile and thus most negative score. The 2 year old kept himself busy dishing out the tiles from the bag. Overall, an engaging and interactive game for the whole family that has simple rules to allow newbies to get up and running quickly, but with a twist of strategy that appeals to the competitive streak of seasoned players.

I must say that I am already immediately impressed by the look and feel of the box . So brightly coloured it stands out and grabs your attention straight away. The look and feel of the contents are equally as impressive and how lovely is the drawstring bag that comes with it for safely storing the colourful tiles. Also immediately impressed by the look and feel of the game. The brightly coloured box stands out amd grabs your attention straight away. As a family we wanted to get used to the tile placement as the children seemed a bit daunted at first. So we had a few games without the scoring first. When we did add the scoring, we found it surprisingly easy to pick up and understand, especially for the 7yr old. We tried telling her she had placed her tiles wrong only to realise she already was thinking ahead and had a gameplay. Whether the children realised it or not, Azul had the educational element for me of helping the 7yr old with her maths as she wanted to be independent and work out her own scoring. It also had the element of teaching them concentration and making them plan their next moves. Azul is a fun easy to play game for all ages that slots perfectly into family game time. We,very had so much fun bonding while we decorate our boards with tiles , strategically placing them with the aim of scoring the most points, whilst also trying to make others pick up tiles they don't need. Genuinely no downsides to Azul for us
“Great addictive game of strategy”

We really enjoyed playing this game with family, it’s unlike anything I’ve played before. Although the instructions made it seem a lot more confusing than it actually is, we all picked it up after playing one round and it is such a fun, addictive game to play. Will definitely be a favourite for us and we will be reaching for it lots.
