“Fantastic from the first page!”

Margot, our protagonist, is a relatable, lovable yet infuriating character. We meet her aged 34 and the novel then looks back over her 17 years of dating to reveal the choices which brought her to this point in her life. Her family and friends are wonderfully drawn too so that you feel as though you would recognise them if they walked past you. I raced through this excellent debut in a couple of sittings and I adored it. Dunn's writing is fresh and funny. As Young As This has echoes of Dolly Alderton but it also reminded me a little of both David Nicholls' One Day and Claire Daverley's Talking at Night.
“A wonderful debut….”

Margot, in her mid-thirties, is on the eve of making the most important decision in her life. This is an occasion to pause and reflect on the relationships she has had since she was 17 years old. Dunn beautifully captures the young Margot’s voice; playful, dreamy and full of expectations and then the reality of her first real love and heartbreak. Gradually, as Margot gets older, we get to observe the dissatisfaction, desperation, and heartache each relationship brings into her life. Margot is such a wonderful character that you are drawn to her like a moth to a flame. She is funny, vulnerable, pensive and incredibly real. Dunn creates a tender, witty but, at the same time, heartbreakingly moving story about modern relationships. Margot’s journey of self-discovery will make you go through a cascade of emotions. I’m now looking forward to reading what Roxy Dunn is going to write next. She is a new author to watch out for so don’t forget to put this book on your reading list.
