“The greatest book I have read this year”
(Hardback)
by Charlotte Wilson
I hadn't heard much about this book or author beforehand but was intrigued by the blurb. Once I started, I found it so hard to put down as I wanted to read more and more, especially as the plot developed and characters got super interesting. When I did finally finish and put it down, I actually said out loud: "That was a great book". It's probably the best book I have read this year (and I'm up to 85 at the moment). Fabulous plot, great characters and full of suspense. I had no clue until the reveal and this was really satisfying! Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for this honest review. Highly recommended read.
“An intriguing page turner”
(Hardback)
by Huw Chapman
I'm a sucker for a good page turner and this is just such a book. Cleverly latching on to a topic that mystifies most of us, namely "what happens when we fall asleep", Matthew Blake weaves a tale that has the reader lurching from scepticism to sympathy and back again as the mystery unravels. The plot concerns a society girl, accused of a terrible crime - or rather, NOT accused, as she has fallen into a seemingly unending sleep immediately after the crime has taken place. Dr Ben Prince is asked to bring her out of her impenetrable sleep with devastating consequences. There's just the right amount of scientific and legal detail to move the story on, without getting bogged down. One of my relatives even gets a passing mention! Recommended for fans of psychological thrillers such as Gone Girl. I genuinely couldn't put it down.
“Gripping!”
(Hardback)
by Mrs G Librarian
Wow! This book has had me absolutely gripped from the very beginning and I really didn’t work out the truth until I was very close to the end. And what a big reveal that was! An absorbing and chilling read, that really holds the tension throughout. I loved the writing, totally gripping with lots of short, shock inducing sentences. The gradual revelation of the past through Anna’s diary alongside the present day and the quest to wake her all added to the sense of foreboding that the truth would bring. Was Anna guilty or was she innocent? I certainly flitted between the two throughout. This book has already had a huge presence on social media and for once, I’m in agreement with the hype. It would make a brilliant film!

“Very cleverly written”

Very cleverly written. This book is a real page turner. You'll think you've cracked it a fair few times and be wrong at every turn. A mystery to be solved, this feels fresh and different. A sleep doctor, a murderess and everyone around them. I was convinced I could crack this, but no! You will want to keep reading to find out more after every chapter. I loved this. And would want to read more by this author.
