Penryn is a totally kick-ass heroine! She's feisty, brave and incredible loyal to her sister (and her mother - despite her many flaws.) and will do anything to get her back. The way this is book is written will instantly capture your attention, it's perfect for fans of dystopian fiction and fantasy fiction; an apocalypse at the hands of angels! The angels are described so well that I could perfectly imagine them, the details as to what colour their wings are, really bring them to life. The interactions between the angels and Penryn are tense, exciting and full of action. The plot is full of twists and turns and as soon as it ended I was desperate for book 2. Infact, I'd suggest buying book 1 and 2 at the same time so you can go straight onto book 2!

This book was amazing, from start to finish!I haven't read many angel books but if they all are as amazing as this was then I can't wait to read more. I can't really find any flaws in this book- all of the scenes made sense and there was never a moment when I thought 'why is this in here?' All of the characters were fun to read about: Penryn was just badass, Raffe was the mystery angel hero, the mother was a bit psycho (it did make the book funny though at times) and Paige was the 'little dalai lama.' I liked the other characters as well, especially the dee-dum twins :) The plot was well thought out and it did shock me at times making it an unpredictible book, which is something I haven't read in a while. Overall, everything made sense and I loved the new take on angels, probably making it one of my favourite books. Will definitely be reading the next one.

I didn't expect to like this book as much as I realised I had once I'd finished it. The story starts straight away with a solitary feather floating to Earth in front of Penryn, our heroine, filling her with fear - the feather means there are angels nearby and angels in Angelfall are BAD news for humans. From there, the story proceedes at a decent pace as Penryn searches for her younger sister with Raffe, an angel she helps recover after he is set upon by his own kind. Wiith some great action scenes and gruesome creations interspersed throughout, Ee pulls it all together fantastically in a jaw-dropping final third full of revelations and destruction. While I was reading I was concerned that Penryn would be quite a stereotypical teen fiction heroine who can't help but fawn over her heavily muscled angelic accquaintance, Raffe, despite the danger his kind so clearly represent. As the book progresses, however, she presents herself more and more as a strong-willed and independent character with real substance that I couldn't help but root for. The writing is excellent and kept me interested throughout and the thrilling last third of book has left me desperate for parts 2 and 3, both to find out what happens to characters I've come to know, as well as to know what will happen to the world at large in this chilling and well-visualised vision of a horrific future. This will definitely appeal to fans of Twilight, Mortal Instruments, Beautiful Creatures and other teen fiction staples, but don't let that put you off if you're not a fan of those. This is a brilliantly thrilling story that's not to be missed!

I really wasn't expecting to enjoy this as much as i did, but Susan Ee is a welcome addition to my bookshelf. The story dives straight in and doesn't let up - this is a book for readers who like pace - there's no subtlety here. Penryn, our heroine, is a likeable character and isn't too distracted by Raffe, which makes a nice change. She's out to find her sister, taken by the angels, whilst keeping an eye out for her slightly unhinged mother. She meets Raffe early on in the story and they form a relatively easy alliance based on Penryn's knowledge of the human world (whilst Raffe doesn't have his wings) and Raffe's knowledge of the angels to help Penryn find her sister. Penryn is a resourceful character and loving big sister and it would be easy to draw comparisons to The Hunger Games' Katniss, but the supernatural element means this dystopia feels quite different to the various apocalyptic dystopias. If you liked fast paced, supernatural thrillers you won't be disappointed. I ended up staying up to 4.30am to finish it!

I am so impressed with this book! I read it in 2 days, which is really fast for me. The storyline requires no padding, the action is immediate and Ee makes this new world seem so realistic. I didn't question the concept of angels, or the disgusting and horrifying new creatures she creates, I was completely enthralled. Susan Ee has a really unique and brilliant imagination, each chapter was more shocking and addictive than the last! I can't wait for the next instalment, I just want to read more! Perfect for teens and adults alike, and for anyone that enjoyed the dystopia of the Hunger Games.
