His artist portraits are an absolute treat, a glimpse into each character’s inner world via Dillon’s own. By framing them with his shorter intimate notes on the nature of the “affinity” he ties himself to the artists with his feelings of attraction, repulsion and connection — a kinship and a closeness that I think all art-writing should have.
