“Favorite read of 2025”
(Hardback)
This one really knocked me on my butt. I wasn’t sure what to expect at first, but Nova’s voice was strong and easy to connect with. She’s the kind of character who holds onto her people no matter what, and that made her journey hit harder.
The magic tied to the stars was one of the cooler ideas I’ve read in a while. It gave everything this slightly otherworldly feel without losing the emotional core. Some parts in the middle felt a bit slower, especially when the story leaned into building out the rules of the world. Still, I never felt disconnected.
What I liked most was how personal it all felt. Nova’s choices were always coming from a place of love, wanting to protect her family, even if it meant pushing herself to the edge. That gave the book a kind of quiet urgency, even in the less intense moments.
I really loved it. I’ll impatiently waiting for book two in this series!
Also- Azazel can attempt to murder me any day.

“I liked her terror for some reason. The tension that bled from her.”
if you do anything or take any recommendation from me, please let it be this book. The way this book touches on issues with government control, indoctrination, betrayal, lies, the tension, and how as women we are always trying to shrink ourselves and no longer doing that to please others.

Above was one of my most anticipated reads for this year, I have been Stalking Brea’s page religiously waiting for a chance to have an ARC and read it. IT. DID. NOT. DISAPPOINT. No, really. It was everything I expected and more. True enemies to lovers, I’m talking they HATE each other, want to kill each other and often end their conversation with one of them bleeding. So much tension is being built with such a painfully amazing slow burn happening. You know you shouldn’t want them together, but you do. Desperately.
The plot was engaging from the start, and the pacing kept me turning pages late into the night. The world-building was rich without being overwhelming, and I enjoyed the multiple POVs. Above was a fresh take in the fantasy, magical genre for me and I enjoyed seeing the parallels between this world and our current society. I can’t wait to see where this series goes and get more of our two MCs
There is definitely a heavily political and indoctrination vibe throughout the story so it may not be for some, but I am here for it. If you’re not then this may not be for you, but if you are it does not disappoint.
We have mental health representation happening.
Betrayal that has you screaming “what?!” or “I knew it!!”
Banter
Villian gets the girl
Feminine rage - I love a FMC who is going to prove them all wrong with their limited purist views and just become the chaos that is absolutely needed.
