To begin with I thought that this was a story about some sort of fictional queen who had turned detective when strange things began to happen at her palace. So when I got the book and began to read it, I realised that I had been mistaken. Yes, this was a fictional story with some fictional characters, but many of the characters were based on real people including members of the British Royal family. The Queen in the story was actually our real queen. At the start of the book we learn that a dead body has been found near the palace swimming pool. Then we are taken back in time a few years to the time when we had our latest female prime minister and lots of other things were going on in British history such as Brexit. This meant that the poor Queen had several problems to deal with in the outside world , so the last thing she needed was to have trouble inside the palace. But there was trouble brewing with the household staff ,and a missing painting from the Queen`s own collection.

Looking at the cover of this book I would have picked it as I love a mystery novel and having the Queen as helping to solve the crime makes it even more interesting. I could total imagine this to be a true story as its set in Buckingham Palace so you have all the history and figures of the Palace. One of the Palace aids is killed by the swimming pool and everyone believes it to be an accident even the Police and want to dismiss the case except the Queen who believes this is linked to the poison pen letters some of the staff have received. The Queen has Rozie her aid to look into the letters and discovers that they can be linked to a missing picture from the Queens bedroom. Except this puts Rozie in danger as she discovers it wasn't just one picture that has gone missing but there is a breakages business that has existed since the 1970's. Really exciting plot with lots of twists and turns

I think this is a really clever idea for a story and it is such a fun and entertaining read, I really enjoyed it. Based in the time just after the EU referendum, the Queen and her secretary Rozie, join together to solve the mystery of various occurrences in the palace. Firstly it is the appearance of a much loved painting from the Queens collection turning up at the Royal Navy exhibition and then there is the body of the unpopular housekeeper found beside the Palace swimming pool. On top of this members of the palace staff have been receiving anonymous letters. With the Queen fully in charge, the two attempt to find out what is going. Along the way the reader is introduced to the members of the household and their duties, and an image is created, of the palace, of a glorious building but in much need of attention in places, with parts sealed off or out of bounds for safety. Together they delve into the past and look at the present to find the answers. A great read which will make you think of the Queen in a completely different way in the future!

The second book Featuring Queen Elizabeth II literally as the Queen of cosy crime, in a highly engaging and ridiculously enjoyable read Here you have a cleverly plotted story surrounding the discovery of a body and a missing painting, a story told in such an engaging way, sprinkled with wry humour, this really is an enjoyable read, you kind of find it difficult to put down, it hooks you in with plenty of intrigue and drama. The main characters we are are familiar with, and you can feel their voices within your head as you read, the surrounding characters though are wonderfully written and brought to life on the page, they belong in the palace. Rozie is endearing, dutiful and loyal, sharp as a tack and fearless in her efforts to help uncover the truth, you take an instant like to her and the way she is portrayed The plotting is superb and leaves you guessing as to the outcome, overall there is a freshness to the whole feel of the book, cosy crime but a cracking read, that will appeal to all, has the feel of Agatha Christie with the clever subtle un ravelling of the clues, a classic whodunnit The book has moments where you want to laugh out load, though you must never forget crimes have been committed, the voices stay within your head, there is a charm to overall tone and feel of the book. The writing is a delight in the way it lights up the pages as you build up to the finale A highly entertaining read. Would most definitely recommend, it is somewhat difficult to put down once you have started

The second book in this fantastic series. I absolutely loved it and the characters just keep getting better, although the queen is someone we have all admired for decades. This is a series where I go out and buy the hard copy, because I want to be able to read the stories again. There is such a feel good factor, despite the fact that they are crime novels. thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the e-proof in return for an honest review.
