Reviews: A Monster Calls (41)
“Wow…”
(Paperback)
Just read it. And make sure you have tissues for the ending, you’re going to need them!
“heart wrenching”
(Paperback)
This book is honestly a favourite of mine.
From the moment I got it, it was read within a few hours. A short read which takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions which made me shed a few tears. Patrick had written an amazing book with many moral lessons embedded within. A must read !
“Amazing ”
(Paperback)
This is one of the best books I have read and the Illustrations were beautiful. I would recommend this to any one, its a must read.
“A must read regardless of ages!”
(Paperback)
Although this book appears to be aimed at young adult readers, I urge people of all ages to read it. A beautiful coming of age story, A Monster Calls tugged at my heartstrings and easily became one of my favourite books of this year.
“Heartbreaking”
(Paperback)
Patrick Ness can inhabit a child's world better than almost any author I have ever come across. His ability to convey the helplessness (and resulting rage) of a young boy faced with his mother's illness is simply breathtaking. And it hurts - there were parts where I had to shut the book and just let the tears fall, but it is worth it because by the end I felt as if I had been cleaned from the inside out.
Definitely a book I will read again and treasure.
