Christopher Patterson's 'A Chance Beginning' was a breath of fresh air: a fantasy novel in the Tolkienesque manner. I've been wading through some rather turgid fiction lately, looking for new authors (new to me at least). @A Chance Beginning' had just what I wanted: good character development, believable characters, well crafted dialog and just enough description to bring his world to life for me. All in all, an enjoyable read, and I look forward to reading the next two books in the trilogy..
