Set in post-apocalyptic London in 1948, three years after the end of WWII and Hitler's final act of war releasing the Blood Death across Britain, which kills all except those who are AB positive, Herbert combines the chilling sensation of a quiet empty London with the terror of the chase with the Fascist Blackshirts in an action packed thriller that keeps you reading until the very last page. The detail and descriptions of London, it's streets and buildings add to the realism of the book and Herbert has obviously put a lot of research in to get it as right as possible (artistic license not withstanding). This book combines the best of sci-fi apocalypse and zombie fiction with Nazi Fascism and out right gore fests. A very enjoyable read, if you like 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later, you'll love this
