Reviews: 1st Case (1)
“Another Great Modern Crime”
(Hardback)
I always know what I'm going to get when I pick up a James Patterson. An easy-to-read, fast-paced and thrilling crime novel.
What I enjoyed most about this book was our main character who lands herself an internship at the FBI, thus allowing us to learn the ins and outs with her. So often with crime novels I find that you are thrown in the deep end, bombarded with terminology and jargon that leaves the average reader confused or left out of the loop. Yet, in this book, we learn along with our main character as she is faced with uncovering the details and catching the killer of a gruesome murder.
A high IQ, friends in high places and an emotional attachment to the victims, Angela does all she can to uncover what happened before the killer strikes again.
I read this book in one sitting, I couldn't put it down, and the short chapters (of typically 3 pages or so) help to make swift progress and easy reading. I love a modern cyber-related crime, I loved the various characters (although a small romance element left me a little confused). I would be interested to see if this writer duo develop a series with these characters as I would be one of the first to pick up a sequel and continue to watch Angela grow in her position with the FBI.
