Publisher’s yellow cloth with brown titling, slight bowing to front board with light spotting, foxing to endpapers and page edges but internally clean, Jacket is unclipped with chipping and creasing to spine and light sunning to top quarter of front panel. Read’s collection of manifestos advancing Modernist principles in architecture, sculpture and painting features contributions from Barbara Hepworth, Paul Nash, Henry Moore and Colin Lucas among others. With 67 monochrome plates, this collection was issued to coincide with the only Unit One exhibition in 1934 and is largely responsible for establishing London as a centre for modernist and surrealist art. An uncommon volume not often found in such good order.
