Understanding Educational Measurement

This introductory-level text is a reference for student teachers covering the selection and critiquing of tests, including recent Buros' "Mental Measurement Yearbooks". It is designed to ease students into topics such as statistics, reliability and validity in a logical, non-threatening way, in order to help them master important, but difficult, concepts. It includes a section on the connection between establishing and measuring objectives which should help students understand the link between testing and planning. A chapter on performance testing covers the type of assessment key to the performing arts, and rapidly becoming more prominent in all areas.
