Synopsis

Warning: Mike and Marketing - Major Spoilers - Tread very lightly on plot in any synopsis for this volume. Finally, Subaru's full memory of his first encounter with Seishirou comes to light. Subaru caught Seishirou killing a little girl, but he erases his memory and tells him that they will make a bet. The bet is: After they meet again, and spend one year together...if Seishirou comes to 'like' Subaru then he won't kill him. However, if he doesn't 'like' him, he'll kill him. Looks like Seishirou doesn't care much for Subaru so he breaks him arm, but he is interrupted by the nurses coming in and the whole sakura-room illusion disappears. With Subaru in shock, Hokuto goes off to fight Seishirou but is killed. This snaps Subaru out of his shock and he also goes off to kill Seishirou. There is a dream sequence that shows how Hokuto is killed (she pretty much asks for it). While hanging in a park, a muttering mother and her screaming baby pass by. Suspicious: Then there's this odd little girl that shows up and keeps asking him to help the child. Subaru finally figures it out and runs up to the room where the mother is slap-happying her baby!

The mother was beating her baby because she wanted to beat herself. It turns out that the mysterious little girl is a spirit that was killed by her mother. The whole saga ends with the message that people who do bad things must be sad.
