Thomas Wolfe: An Annotated Critical Bibliography
Synopsis
During the Depression, Wolfe's fiction struck a chord in a middle America that yearned for a romantic and intellectually serious affirmation of the American experience. Entries in the bibliography are divided into five parts: books on Wolfe, reviews and critical articles of each of his four novels, reviews and critical articles on his other literary work, general studies, and a final section on other materials including dissertations. Bassett's introduction provides a brief history of Wolfe's critical reception during and after his lifetime. With an index of critics.
