Synopsis

Named after Yeats' 'foul rag-and-bone shop of the heart', THE SHOP, is a showcase for the literary talent of the South of Ireland featuring the works of eminent writers and those still making their way. But it also opens its pages to major poets from all over Ireland and, in the interests of cross-fertilisation, to distinguished foreign writers. The Spring issue starts with a poem by Biddy Jenkinson, with a translation by Ita O'Donovan. There is a section of poems on childhood and youth. Other contributions include Anthony Cronin, Gerald Dawe, Anne Haverty, Fred Johnston, Catherine Phil MacCarthy, John Montague, Leanne O'Sullivan and William Wall.
