The Nervous System

This edition has been revised and updated to take into account recent scholarship in this extensive subject. In our most basic bodily functions, in anything from kicking a ball to writing a symphony, the nervous system is involved. From a description of the physiological processes involved, the book goes on to consider questions such as how sensation acquires meaning (in pain, for example), how the nervous system is affected by external influences as various as the earth's magnetic field and a bullet through the brain.
