Statistics: Health Sciences Orientation

This text uses materials from health sciences literature to motivate and illustrate the statistical content presented in the text. The statistical subject matter is applied to solve real problems in the health sciences. Minitab has been integrated throughout the text where it is appropriate to simplify lengthy computations and illustrate concepts. Students not only see the computer output but are shown how to get it and how to interpret it. A chapter is devoted to the basic concepts of probability and how these concepts are applied to diagnostic testing. In each section examples are followed by statistical techniques that will be used to solve the problem.
