This is the fifth title about Slinky Malinki in the Hairy Maclary and Friends series of picture books by prize-winning author/illustrator Lynley Dodd, whose signature rollicking rhythm and rhyme have made her a household name with books that are wonderful to read aloud with young children. She worked as a teacher before beginning to write her own books and her first Hairy Maclary adventure was published in 1983.
