Shinjuku

“Snapshots” are very small personal fragments taken from the vast outside world. My photobook “Shinjuku” that was published a long time ago was created in the same manner. The many Shinjuku photos once printed in the book have been dismantled, further cut into countless pieces and revived as a collage to express the “Now” as felt and perceived by Shohei Yoshida. I think that within this creation process, and in the spiral-like transformation of the images lies the suppleness of photography itself.

I look forward to take in this “other Shinjuku” created by Shohei Yoshida’s concept from the photos that have long left my hands.
