Redesigning Library Services: A Manifesto

This blueprint provides a new framework within which to attempt to understand and to plan library services in the future. Buckland's examination of informational technology is the basis of an analysis of the transition from the library of the past to the library of the future. He introduces the consequences of changing expectations by identifying the stages in the transitions of libraries from paper-based to electronic data based. Buckland outlines the way to understand the likely demands of the library user of the future and how to increase the service that librarians can deliver.
